The highly-awaited Season 2 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel arrives on Prime Video soon, and fan speculation has been rampant.
The first season introduces a large cast of personalities residing in Hell and Heaven, sets them at odds with songs detailing their conflicts, and establishes tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that fuel fan obsession.
The fandom's stated hopes for the new season differ greatly, but certain threads emerge over and over: Will a fan-favorite character break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't produce the show with audience demands specifically in mind," the showrunner commented recently. "But I believe that me being a devotee of the series implies there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She says her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have already been green-lit by the production companies, which produce the series.
That might mean fans have to wait years for some of the major resolutions — but they may be surprised at how fast season 2 progresses, and how much of what they're waiting for unfolds now.
"I believe people are going to be highly satisfied," the creator notes. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some incredible reveals, some fascinating origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
The creator is well-informed of the theories and desires about the upcoming season — especially in the form of fan bingo cards.
"I've seen a few fans make a prediction grid about the new season," she mentions. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've already completed some of them, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 launches on Prime Video on Oct. 29.
